Ejercicio 9. WILLIAM Y MIGUEL CHARLAN, WILLIAM AND MIGUEL TALK

Autor: José Enrique Gil - Delgado Crespo

¿Por qué me habláis así?
Dijo Miguel

It is the way I know
Answered William

¿Acaso no sabéis
mi buen amigo
Que soy también poeta?

A poet, do you mean?
Repeated  Shakespeare.

¡Sí, un poeta español
Que rima versos!

How can that be
My friend?

Simple y sencillo:
Cogéis un verso...
Luego un estribillo
Y el verso en un poema
Se va haciendo

But I don’t believe it!
It seems impossible
That within lines
You are able to write it.
It’s like the biggest lie!
But tell me don Miguel
How is your language like?

Mi idioma don Guillermo
Es voz divina
Que surge de gargantas
De mil gentes:
Las hay, muchas paganas
Y también hay creyentes.

And how do you pronounce
Beautiful words
Whenever you announce
That to the world?

Es muy fácil señor
Nada hay más noble
Y más grato y  amable
Que hablar en Español.

But..For God’s sake Miguel:
Do you not  think that
Our English language
Deserves the very same?

Así lo pienso yo
Mi amigo y compañero
Entre inglés y español
No hay un primero

For these two tongues
Are English and Spanish
And they deserve the songs
More than the others.

Canciones que se cantan
En España, en Britania
Y en Ámérica
Por no nombrar la Australia
Y dondequiera.

I quite agree with you!
Dear Cervantes
For English is my tongue
And Yours Spanish

Compongamos los versos
Con esmero
Y lleguemos con ellos
Hasta el cielo!

The heavens we shall reach
We both together
For this is our quest
Now and forever!

(Aniversario de la muerte de Cervantes y Shakespeare)
